"Using TABARI, Text & Event Data Analysis"
Phil Schrodt (Political Science, Penn State University) will presebt a two-hour workshop, Friday, Nov. 4, from 2 to 4 pm, in the Gatton Computer Lab, on "Using TABARI, Text & Event Data Analysis," a program he designed for conducting text analysis to analyze and forecast international events. Phil Schrodt is a pioneer in political science in developing tailored programs of text analysis that others can use.Download the slides for this workshop here. Tabari (Textual Analysis by Augmented Replacement Instructions) is a system for the machine coding of event data based on pattern recognition. It is designed to work with short news summaries such as those found in the lead sentences of wire service reports.
