Decomposition Analysis
QIPSR will be offering a workshop on decomposition analysis on Wednesday, April 8th, from 11:00-12:30 in the Niles Gallery of the Lucille Little Fine Arts Library.
Dominique Zephyr will be teaching attendees how to calculate group differences across a range of variables (e.g. the wage gap between men and women). Wage gaps are used in explaining the inequalities that women and African-Americans experience in the labor market, and these techniques are being increasingly used for other gaps such as between countries or organizations. But there is a world of analysis beyond the simple gap that focuses on controlling variables and explaining the gap. Decomposition analysis is the technique for breaking down these gaps. And STATA has new commands that make this analysis much more accessible.
