The Basics of Exploratory Factor Analysis
Dr. Peggy S. Keller (Psychology Department, University of Kentucky) will offer an Introductory Workshop on Exploratory Factor Analysis on Friday, February 27th, 2015. 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM in the Marksbury Building Theater. This seminar will cover factor analysis techniques, which are the basis of scale construction techniques (IRT and RASCH) and structural equation modeling (SEM). In particular, it will cover the goals of EFA, fundamental equations and key matrices (including eigenvalues, factor loadings, and residual correlations), extraction techniques (PCA, principal factors, and some lesser used ones like ML extraction and alpha loading extraction), rotations (varimax, quartimax, equamax, direct oblimin, and promax), and interpreting factor solutions.
