The third annual Ohio River Valley Objective Measurement Seminar (ORVOMS) is scheduled to take place on Friday, May 3, 2013, at the University of Kentucky. Please note that AERA ends on May 1st this year, so if you are traveling you might want to work Lexington into your itinerary as a one-day layover.  This year’s Keynote Speaker will be Dr. William Boone, full professor in Miami University’s Department of Educational Psychology.

At this time, we invite people to submit presentations for consideration in the program.  To be accepted, submissions should be about the Rasch Model or an application of the Rasch Model to a particular problem. In the past, research presented has been from the arenas of certification testing, educational testing, health survey development, and scale development for use in criminology. We hope to see Rasch model applications from even more areas this year.

At the time of submission, we would like the research to be either completed or far enough along to present the findings. Submissions should include an abstract of approximately 200 words summarizing your research question, why it’s important, and results. A paper is not required. Please submit your proposal by March 29, 2013 to Melanie Lybarger, mlybarger@theabfm.org (859-269-5226 x1227). Later submissions may be accepted if slots are available.  We look forward to your submissions and hope that you will be able to participate.

Even if you do not wish to present, please come and see what your colleagues are up to, catch up with old friends, and perhaps you’ll make some new ones too! Feel free to bring a friend with you, and pass this seminar information along to interested parties.  We are also happy to add people to our mailing list even if they are unable to attend this year.  We anticipate an interesting and collegial meeting.  If you are interested in hosting ORVOMS in 2014, please give us a call.
